Mind Map: Earthquake Safety Checklist

On August 23, 2011, about 12 millions people experienced a 5.8 earthquake in Virginia and East Coast.  It was unexpected and scary. It resulted in some structural damage and injuries, but no deaths. Since, for most, there were no safety procedures in place for this event, there was a lot of confusion and panic, and ineffective action.

Lesson learned: because earthquakes occur without warning, it’s important to take steps in advance to prepare, so that we know what to do and how to respond when it happens again.

I hope you find this checklist helpful. Please add anything that I’ve missed.
